I had the same piano teacher from 4th through 12th grades. Mrs. Hamblen and I connected well, and she developed a love of classical and sacred music in me that is still growing. We have kept in touch through the years, and she has always been an encouragement to me. Last week I visited her and played a Chopin Nocturne for her; she then shared that Chopin was her favorite composer, which I had not known. I remind my students to keep in touch with me after they leave my studio, especially those who have been with me for many years. Playing piano and staying connected with your music teachers are life changing! Mrs. Hamblen, now in her 90’s, is still an inspiration!
